This blog deals with the bird (avian) flu epidemic, the feared bird flu pandemic and its implications on human health.

The avian or bird flu has been making news in the last several years as increasing numbers of domestic and wild birds in Asia and later in Europe tested positive for the feared H5N1 influenza virus. In addition, several cases of human transmission of this virus were documented, with a very high mortality rate, raising fears that we are on the threshold of a major influenza pandemic that has the potential to kill millions of people around the world.

Whenever we are confronted with dangers over which we have very little or no control, feelings of fear can become overwhelming.

Being adequately informed is often very helpful in cases such as this. KNOWING is UNDERSTANDING, and if you understand something, you have at least removed the fear of the unknown. Plus, when you have the right knowledge, you have a much better chance of being able to design survival strategies based on what works and what doesn't work, rather than on rumors, fears, superstition, despair, etc.

My purporse with this blog is precisely to help you get rid of bird flu-related fears generated by lack of knowledge about this dreaded disease.

Make sure you come back soon to start your journey in understanding and building strategies for surviving a bird flu pandemic.
